Beyonce pulls out of trip to Britain? comments (0)
11 Aug 2006 by BorgQueen
R&B beauty Beyonce Knowles has reportedly pulled out of her promotional trip to the UK later this month, after police foiled a terrorist plot to blow up American jumbo jets. The former Destiny's Child singer has been told by record label bosses she must stay in the US when new single Deja Vu hits shops, because of the continued threat to people flying across the Atlantic. An insider tells the Daily Star, "It's not a difficult decision to make in the light of the UK going to critical alert status. Beyonce's been told she's not to come to the country so soon after so many trans-Atlantic flights were threatened. "It is a blow because she needs to get as much hype going around her new single as possible."

Aunt Beyonce makes one swell babysitter! comments (0)
11 Aug 2006 by BorgQueen
Singer Beyonce Knowles' nephew is so attached to his aunt, that he starts bawling when he realises she isn't anywhere around. The Destiny's Child star's younger sister, Solange, recently took her baby son to her latest appearance on MTV's TRL show, but to her dismay, the little one started crying backstage after watching his aunt's new video. Solange admits she had a tough time trying to calm her son down, as he wasn't ready to stop yelling unless he saw his favourite aunt in front of him. "He thought that she was out here because the video was on... He's running TRL right now. If you hear any screams, that's Julez," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying. Meanwhile, Solange, who appeared on the show after Knowles' Deja VU video appeared on the countdown, claims her sister is a great babysitter, and hence isn't surprised why she is her son's most loved aunt. "She picked him up (on Tuesday) for three hours. I had some interviews and stuff to do... She took him to Fao Schwartz (toy store) and closed down the store and Julez was in heaven," she said.

The mag is the work of the creative team behind Vogue magazine, including Editor in Chief Anna Wintour — the inspiration for Meryl Streep's character in "The Devil Wears Prada." Beyoncé and Jamie Foxx are on the first cover and will be featured in the main story, a behind-the-scenes set visit of their upcoming movie, "Dreamgirls". The issue also has in-depth features on Elton John and Justin Timberlake and a sneak peek at Courtney Love's diaries.

When the soundtrack for the film adaptation of the Broadway show Dreamgirls comes out in December, a new Beyoncé song will be the first single. The track is called "Listen" and it's one of four new songs written for the movie that was not featured in the original musical. "It's a ballad, it's got a big orchestra, so it's totally different for her and for the radio and MTV and everybody it's gonna be exciting," Harvey Mason Jr. of production duo The Underdogs told MTV.com. Meanwhile, Beyoncé's forthcoming solo album, B'Day, will drop on September 5.

Beyonce on the September cover of Essence comments (2)
02 Aug 2006 by BorgQueen
When it came time to record B'Day, Beyonce was inspired by the creative approach that Jay-Z and his Roc-A-Fella artists take, the singer told Essence in the magazine's September cover story. "They usually have a bunch of producers in the studio at one time in different rooms," she explained. "They get this positive competitive energy going." When it came time to lay down her own tracks, Beyonce followed Jay's lead. "I rented the studio and had different producers in three different rooms. It was so much fun and no pressure." And Jay and B didn't worry that the stress of working together on "Deja Vu" would impact their relationship — because the rapper's part on the track was never planned. "But once he heard it, I saw his lips start moving," Beyonce told the magazine. "So I was like, 'Would you like to go into the studio and record what you just did?' Now we joke about how we're going to have enough songs to put out a little compilation record." ...

BTW, according to Yahoo! Music 'Ring The Alarm' is going to premiere on 14 August!!

Beyonce puts a stop to the rumors comments (0)
31 Jul 2006 by BorgQueen
An item appearing in the press on Friday, July 28 falsely speculated that the upcoming release and pre-sale date for Beyonce's new album, "B'Day," were set in response to an upcoming album release by LeToya Luckett, a former member of Destiny's Child. In order to put a stop to these unfounded rumors, Beyonce and her manager, Mathew Knowles, have each issued statements clarifying the facts of the situation. "I have enormous respect and admiration for LeToya as an artist and a business woman and I wish her incredible success with her debut CD and her career," said Beyonce. "LeToya and I have known each other since childhood and, because of all we've been through, I know that we both really care -- and want what's best -- for each other.

Beyonce's not so shy and retiring comments (0)
30 Jul 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyonce Knowles has reversed her vow to retire at 27. The singer-turned-actress will celebrate her 25 th birthday on September 4 with the release of her second solo album B'Day. And she has thrilled fans by admitting she is re-thinking her decision to quit working. She said: "I said that when I was 17. Ten years seemed like an eternity then." Beyonce, who stars in the forthcoming movie Dreamgirls, also refused to rule out a wedding date with rapper Jay-Z and revealed her secret for keeping their relationship hot. She said: "Every woman has that dress she knows makes her, man hot. When you need to remind him why he fell in love with you, slip on the dress." Hopefully, that dress should fit again now - Beyonce also revealed how she starved herself for her role in forthcoming flick Dreamgirls. She said: "I lived on water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for 14 days. And I did protein shakes and liquid soups for basically the rest of the shoot, which was about three months. "It was tough. Everybody was like, 'Girl, are you OK?'. I said, 'Yeah, in three months I'm going to have my fried chicken and gumbo, and everything's going to be fine'."

Courageous Kylie Minogue is the person men would most like to sit next to on an airline flight. The Aussie singer, who is battling with cancer, pipped pop star Rachel Stevens and actress Angelina Jolie in a poll organised by British Airways. Actress Cameron Diaz was in fourth place, with Beyonce fifth. The survey of 2,000 passengers found that Paris was the most romantic destination, followed by Rome, Barbados, New York and Prague.

Beyonce Wrote New Album in Character comments (0)
28 Jul 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyonce is crediting her latest album to the character she played in new movie Dreamgirls, because she couldn't shake off the fictional starlet's persona. Knowles sat down to write B'Day after completing the film - in which she plays a member of an all-girl singing trio - but found herself stuck in character. As a consequence she can barely recognise her happy self in the angry and tense tracks on the LP. Knowles says, "The character I play was so in me. I played her for six months. This album is everything I wanted her to say. "Subconsciously I did that, I didn't even think about it - the record has a lot of anger and strength. I'm really in a happy place, and I don't have a reason to sing all these songs."

Beyonce Nervous over Screen Kiss comments (0)
27 Jul 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyonce had to be shown how to kiss Dreamgirls co-star Jamie Foxx, because she didn't know what to do. Foxx plays Curtis Taylor Jr, husband to Knowles' soul singer Deena Jones, in the forthcoming Bill Condon musical. Knowles, 24, says, "I guess you could say we had a love scene. We kissed. "Now, I'm a singer/songwriter, that's what I did first - I didn't start out going to acting classes and people-kissing classes. So that's all still new to me. Working with my acting coach made it easier. I just thought it was necessary for the character, we have to established that they're married. Jamie was very professional, it was quick, and you know, it is what it is."

Foxx Fears Jay-Z Retribution comments (0)
21 Jul 2006 by BorgQueen
Jamie Foxx is terrified Jay-Z is out to get him after he made out with his girlfriend Beyonce in new movie Dreamgirls. The Oscar-winner plays the manager of Beyonce's singing trio in the film - and he loved smooching with the singer-turned-actress in romantic scenes. Foxx admits he developed a soft spot for the talented 24-year-old, but is worried he has to watch his back for her rapper beau. The 38-year-old says, "Yeah, I got to make out with Beyonce. Damn she's hot. I had to watch out for Jay Z thought. I think he wanted to beat me up."

When Beyonce turned nasty perfecting her movie role! comments (0)
20 Jul 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyonce Knowles had to get so mean and moody for her role in new movie Dreamgirls, she almost destroyed her relationships with her friends, family and boyfriend Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter. The singer-turned-actress took a method approach to prepare for the part of starlet Deena, her first character movie, after brief parts in Austin Powers In Goldmember and The Pink Panther. But she got so deeply involved with her character's emotions, she began punishing those closest to her. Beyonce says, "The material was very difficult in that I had to be moody and angry to make the role work. "I was creating drama in my life so that I had something to feed off. I was mad at everyone and they were thinking, 'What did I do?' "It was scary for people around me. They suddenly saw a change and were quite frightened at times. That was the only way I could really make it work and build myself up for the part."

Beyonce feat. Jay-Z: "Deja Vu." It's finally here, and it's predictably gorgeous, and I love it, but you already knew that. "Deja Vu" isn't as good as "Crazy in Love," of course, so it's fitting that we don't get any earthshaking iconography here like Beyonce's dress in the first scene or the car that explodes when Jay-Z starts rapping on the "Crazy in Love" video. The "Deja Vu" clip seems predicated on the same idea as Ocean's Twelve: it's fun to watch rich, pretty, talented people being rich and pretty and talented and enjoying their wealth and beauty and talent. I'm one of those weird people who really, really liked Ocean's Twelve, so that works for me. And so that means we get Sophie Muller putting sweltering-verdant filters on her lenses and filming Beyonce striking silent-film poses in front of a lake and twirling a long skirt in front of a sparkling-white antebellum mansion. There's also a weird scene where Jay raps his second verse while Beyonce grinds on him and he pointedly ignores her; I'm not exactly sure what that's supposed to mean. And someone needs to write a book on that one shot near the end of Beyonce doing a shockingly intense bird-flap Alvin Ailey thing. Source: villagevoice

According To People.com, Beyonce was having a girls' night out with six friends at New York City hot spot Lotus. The group did shots and drank wine in their VIP booth. When DJ Reflex began spinning Her song "Deja Vu", the singer wearing halter top and jeans - danced in her seat and watched the crowds' reaction to her tune.

There's much more to Beyonce than just her beauty! comments (0)
03 Jul 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyonce Knowles blames her beautiful looks for preventing people from seeing what a talented artist she really is. The former Destiny's Child singer has enjoyed a flourishing solo career and has had movie success starring in films including the pink panther - but she still yearns to be respected as an artist. The 24-year-old says, "It's frustrating, because sometimes, when you are attractive, people don't acknowledge that you are talented as well." "I mean, I'm a songwriter, I'm a producer, I have a strong voice, I'm a dynamic performer. Sometimes people forget that."

Jay-Z performed his entire debut album, Reasonable Doubt, last night (June 25) at New York's Radio City Music Hall in celebration of its 10-year anniversary. The big surprise was Beyonce, who sang "Can't Knock the Hustle" instead of Mary J. Blige and just murdered it, sounding even better than Mary. The Reasonable Doubt set ended with that song, and it was an ending worth building up to. There were cameras all over the venue, and apparently they're going to release a DVD of the show. Deja Vu video shoot comments (0)
23 Jun 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z, the most prominent couple in contemporary urban music, shot a video in New Orleans this week. On Wednesday morning, they filmed at the scruffy Maple Leaf Bar in Carrollton. The video crew painted part of the Leaf's interior and waxed and buffed both the dance floor and the stage. "They wanted that gritty New Orleans feel, but we were too gritty," Maple Leaf owner Hank Staples said. "So we look all nice and clean for the time being. But don't worry, we'll take care of that." Staples awoke at 3:30 Wednesday morning to greet the video crew by 4. They set up lights, cameras and a smoke machine. "With the smoke machine, we couldn't use the A/C," Staples said, "so it got very hot in here." Beyonce and Jay-Z "mostly focused on what they were doing and didn't want to be distracted," he said. "They were very professional." The shoot wrapped by 1 p.m., then moved on to the French Quarter, followed by a planned swamp shoot Thursday. Knowles' second solo album, "B'Day," is due Sept. 5.

Beyonce rakes in major honors comments (0)
22 Jun 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyonce rakes in major honors as she hooks up for a third time with beau Jay-Z on "Deja Vu." The new single, from her forthcoming "B'Day" album, enters the Mainstream Top 40 chart at No. 31, Rhythmic Top 40 at No. 27 and the R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart at No. 20. It's the highest bow the airplay chart has seen since Michael Jackson's "You Rock My World" entered at No. 20 back in 2001. There were 250 stations that played "Deja Vu" last week, and it racked up a whopping 47 million in audience out of the box. On top of that, it's already ranked top 10 at 12 stations, including WPGC Washington, D.C.; WQHT New York; WERQ Baltimore; and WUSL Philadelphia. WEMX Baton Rouge, La., played "Deja Vu" 74 times in just four days (June 14-1), averaging 18.5 airings per day.

Beyonce gives us "Deja Vu" comments (0)
22 Jun 2006 by BorgQueen
Summer of 2005 is going to be just as awesome as summer of 2004! Or was it summer of 2003? You know the summer when Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" was playing everywhere... Or "Naughty Girl"... Oh, we're confused now, but this summer will be the summer of "Deja Vu," and it really will feel like we've been there before, except now Jay-Z is rapping along. Personally we thought "Naughty Girl" was one of the most brilliant songs of 2004, but we do not feel the same way about this new single. It sounds like a jaded attempt at a hit single to us, and its licks just aren't catchy enough to hold our attention. That said, we are certain it will be a huge club hit this summer, so you'd better listen to it now before you're the one asking "what's this song?" on the dancefloor.

Consumer Group Defends Beyonce Against PETA Ambush comments (0)

The Center for Consumer Freedom Tells Beyonce: 'Don't let PETA Puppy-Killers Get Away With Their Attack'
Today, the Center for Consumer Freedom jumped to the defense of singer and movie star Beyonce Knowles, the latest celebrity to be attacked by the radical animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), saying: "PETA has some nerve going after Beyonce considering its own disgusting record on animal cruelty." Knowles had generously donated a dinner with fans at a posh New York sushi restaurant for a charity auction. Her philanthropy was rewarded with hostility when the auction winners turned out to be two PETA operatives who ambushed Beyonce for using fur in her clothing line. PETA secretly videotaped the exchange and released the tape on the Internet where, thanks to the widely viewed Drudge Report and other websites, the video was seen by millions.

The Lou's jazz drummer Kim Thompson, who has played locally with Stefon Harris, has been selected to be part of the all-female band that Beyonce Knowles has put together. Beyonce conducted a search for a new band, and Thompson went to the audition in New York on June 12. After a strong performance, she got a call back and was asked to perform again on Saturday. Later, in a meeting with the Knowles camp - which included Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Jay-Z and Beyonce's parents, Tina and Matthew Knowles - Thompson's participation was discussed. Thompson signed a one-year contract, and no one is releasing details yet. She says she knows at least 10 of the women who have been selected to play in the band. Beyonce and the new all-girl band are scheduled to debut at the BET Music Awards show beginning at 8 p.m. on June 27.

"Begin Movie." "Begin Album." "Next Movie." "First Single." "Take Vacation." "Start World Tour." "Shoot Video."
Beyonce stared at these words, neatly printed on metal strips. It was the summer of 2004, and she sat in a room with her strategic team. Slowly she placed each project on a board. This would be her schedule for the next two years. Beyonce may be the most driven and organized 24-year-old in the music business. But she has learnt to do things her way. Early this year, after wrapping a six-month shoot for the film "Dreamgirls," a big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical loosely based on the Supremes, Beyonce's calendar gave her two options: "Take Vacation" or "Begin Album."

Deja Vu - review comments (0)
17 Jun 2006 by BorgQueen
It's a safe bet that "Deja Vu," which was leaked online and then digitally zapped to radio June 13, is destined to be a summer 2006 mainstay. Radiating with enough heat (and hype) to make July seem chilly by comparison, the hip-hop chugger is readily identifiable as pop/R&B's reigning songstress, with a notably loose vocal, fluffed harmonies, a novel horn section and a chorus that adheres to the memory bank in a shake. Downside: Jay-Z's superfluous rap. But no matter. This is an event record destined to garner Beyonce's upcoming sophomore set "B'Day" a monster opening. And our guess: This is just a warm-up, with the biggest, best singles yet to come.

When it came time to begin work on her second solo album, Beyonce didn't even tell her manager, who also happens to be her father, that she'd booked studio time. The album, dubbed "B-Day," is due September 5 via Sony Urban/Columbia. First single "Deja Vu" features Jay-Z. "This [the album] is about female empowerment," she said. "This album is different, it's conceptual, and I do things with my voice that I haven't done before." Among the key tracks are potential singles "Ring the Alarm" and "Freekum Dress." The former, produced by Swizz Beatz, shows a harder edge to Beyonce's sound. Of the latter, Beyonce said, "You know, when your man starts taking you for granted and you put on that one dress that makes him go, 'Wow,' and not want you to leave the house."

B'Day review comments (0)
14 Jun 2006 by BorgQueen
While basking in the release of a new movie, "Dreamgirls" this december, Golden girl Beyonce prepares for the release of her sophmore effort "B'Day" this september. Holding tons of funky horns, loud riffs and sassy lyrics, "B'Day" is shaping up to be this years' hottest fall release with production from heavy-hitters The Neptunes, Rich Harrison, Darkchild & Swizz Beatz. The Lead single "Deja Vu," being rush released due to airplay in Houston, L.a., and New York is turning out to be a radio burner with it's soaring trumpets, thumping bassline and simple yet catchy lyrics from Beyonce. With tracks like "Ring The Alarm," she belts out pure seduction on layers of sirens over a bass-heavy beat. "Freedom Dress" can easily be "Crazy In Love pt. II" with it's cowbells and the club feel of the track. On tracks like, "Give It To Momma," she demands her respect and gets what she wants over a pure funky beat, think cowbells, congos, bongos and chants like "the infamous uh-oh". There's also collaborations from her boyfriend, rapper/beau Jay-z on songs like first single, "Deja Vu" and also a track penned and co-produced by writer Sean Garrett with Swizz Beats, "Hottest Chick In The Game" tells the world just who Beyonce is, or shall I say "Sasha". In fact, Beyonce's sophmore effort is all about demanding respect as a female and the teachings of working what you've got! Spoiler? Yeah right.

Beyonce breaks vacation to record Dream album comments (0)
10 Jun 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyonce Knowles gave up a much-needed vacation to record her new solo album after she dreamed up the songs for the project. The former Destiny's Child star was just three days into a month-long break when the album tracks came to her in her sleep. She called her favourite producers into the studio and recorded the whole thing in a matter of days. The album, B'day, will be rush released in time for Beyonce's birthday on 4 September. She says, "I started to have all these ideas for a solo record, and so, without telling anyone - my manager, my record label - I called up Sean Garrett, Rich Harrison and Rodney Jerkins. "I set up three studios... and banged out 20 songs. Just like that, in a matter of days."

Beyonce has fired back at reports she's a Republican, insisting too many people have read too much into her performance at fellow Texan George Bush's presidential inauguration celebration. The former DC star has been labelled a Bush fan ever since she performed with her group at the White House in 2001, but she insists she never talks publicly about politics and has never offered her support to the President. She says, "I played at the inauguration because there were a lot of kids in the audience that I wanted to reach, that's all. "Maybe one day I will speak of my political beliefs, but only when I know what I'm talking about."

Beyonce Knowles is one of music's brightest stars .. now she's about to dazzle the silver screen. There'S not much that can faze a famous, beautiful and successful woman worth millions of dollars. But with the Mediterranean Sea reflecting in her designer sunglasses and the hot French sunlight gleaming on her perfectly polished nails, even Beyonce Knowles has to sit up and take notice of the movie Dreamgirls which looks like it's going to make her into an even bigger star. The sexy Texan has certainly come a long way in 10 years. As a precocious 15-year-old music fan and child singer, she once ran home in tears of excitement after meeting her pop idol Whitney Houston. At that time, her bedroom was filled with posters of her heroes, Boyz II Men and En Vogue.
But now, on the verge of turning 25, she has bedrooms full of platinum records, mantelpieces crammed with awards, a succession of hit films and a hunky rap star boyfriend.
"All the songs on this album have real energy because it's coming out in the summer and is mostly up-tempo. One of the most fantastic tracks is called Play Me Your Love. It's high energy but very soulful. " As in the past, Beyonce has been ably assisted in the solos by long-term love Jay-Z, whom she is delighted to have supporting her again. "It is good but I have a lot of support from everyone," she said. "I actually have him featured on my first single, Deja Vu."

Beyoncé Can't Quit comments (2)
08 Jun 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyoncé has given up on her dream of taking a well-earned break because she's "no good at doing nothing". The R&B star-turned-actress had planned to take a long vacation in 2006 and 2007 after disbanding all-girl trio Destiny's Child last year (05), but now she accepts she'll only be able to truly walk away from music and movies when she becomes a mum. Beyoncé, who has been working since she was nine, says, "I'm unable to sit still. I'm easily bored. Maybe after I've gotten married and had kids, I'll have something else to occupy my time. "Right now, I'm no good at doing nothing... I certainly didn't feel this way two years ago. Two years ago I'd just about had enough." Instead of taking two years off, as planned, Knowles found time to relax on boating vacations with longtime boyfriend Jay Z. She adds, "Secretly, I live for vacations... I love being on boats. I love the waves, the feel and the smell of the ocean. "It's like being in your own world, like being truly free."

Beyonce Knowles is looking for talented females to join her band and tour with her in support of her second solo album ‘BDay’. Musicians do not have to read music, but they must be able to play by ear (ie listen to a song and play along), must be over 18, must be able to play ‘Work It Out’ as it is performed on the Beyonce: Live At Wembley DVD and must also be able to play one minute solo. Applicants must have a “look”, although the press release doesn’t say WHICH look. Bring a headshot and resume so they can remember your look after you go away. Finalists will be flown to New York for a second audition in front of Beyonce and her “creative team”. Prospective bandmates can turn up on Monday June 12 between midday and 9pm. The 2nd auditions will be held later that week and you must be prepared to be on the road by the 20th. Here you can get to know where the auditions will take place.

Don't know what to get Beyoncé for her birthday? That's OK, because the singer is more in the mood to give than receive this year. She's got three offerings on the way — a new album, movie and division of her clothing line.
Beyoncé is releasing B'Day, the follow-up to 2003's multiplatinum Dangerously in Love, on September 5, the day after her 25th birthday. Rodney Jerkins co-produced the first single, "Déjà Vu," which features the singer's prolific beau, Jay-Z. Rich Harrison, the Neptunes, Swizz Beatz and Sean Garrett also co-produced tracks on the album, and Garrett recently told MTV News that Beyoncé had been pulling 12-hour days writing, arranging and co-producing the record. "She's in a place I've never seen her in before," Garrett said. "She's very vibrant, very happy and her mindset is incredible. She's in a zone."

The Observer Beyonce's new album pre-review comments (0)
26 May 2006 by BorgQueen
And now it's early Friday afternoon, and I'm just back from a playback of four tracks from the new Beyonce album. The event has taken place in another airtight box of a room, but this time in the sickeningly chic St Martin's Lane hotel. Forty-odd people from the press, radio and TV have been summoned, and are being served champagne and canapes. It probably doesn't help that there's nowhere to sit and I'm still sweating alcohol.
An improbably-named flunky from the American side of things introduces some video footage. For 10 minutes, we're bombarded with images of Ms B, and bombarded with facts and figures as there are shots of her singing the Star Spangled Banner at the Superbowl and performing in front of the President; we're told of her fashion range, of her proud association with companies like McDonald's. It's very much as if we're being invited to invest in Beyonce as a commodity. So it's sort of beside the point that the music, when we hear it, is pretty fantastic (but then what do you expect when you hire the most expensive producers in the business, like the Neptunes and Rich Harrison?). The heavy-sell sticks in the craw. It's made very clear, that with a new album in September and a hit movie following at Christmas, this will be Beyonce's year. 'She's a huge, huge brand artist for us,' says the UK label head. 'And the brand is going to get bigger.'

Beyonce puts Jay Z on a diet comments (0)
26 May 2006 by BorgQueen
Rap mogul Jay-Z has sparked rumours he's planning to wed longtime girlfriend Beyonce after shedding pounds on a strict new diet. Sexy Beyonce reportedly suggested her burly boyfriend shed a few pounds after pointing out he was 30 pounds (13.6 kilograms) lighter when they started dating in 2003. And the driven 36-year-old has taken the former DC star's comments to heart - he has already shed 15 pounds (6.8 kilograms), according to insiders. A source tells American publication In Touch, "Jay-Z was never fat, but he was getting chunky. Beyonce likes a little meat on his bones, but not too much." According to the source, Jay-Z's biggest challenge was turning his back on his love for candy.

Beyonce dazzles in Cannes comments (0)
20 May 2006 by BorgQueen
All eyes were on superstar singer Beyonce Knowles at the Cannes Film Festival. The Former Destiny's Child star was in the South of France to offer promoter her new film musical, Dreamgirls, based on the story of The Supremes. Beyonce arrived in a stunning blue dress with gold trim with co-star Jamie Foxx. Eddie Murphy also stars in the film, about a trio of black female soul singers, which observers say is the story of The Supremes. After showing a group of critics a 20 minute preview of the film, Foxx joked: "The toughest thing in the movie was to have to kiss Beyonce thinking that Jay Z (Beyonce's boyfriend) was going to kick my arse." The Academy Award winner said he had a good feeling about the film, which was greeted by ecstatic cheers by the group. He added: "They talk about the Oscar curse but I don't feel it right now."
"To work with Eddie was to be able to work with a legend who never gets excited about anything. "When you see the whole movie it's going to knock your socks off." Beyonce, who plays the Diana Ross character who in the movie is called Deena Jones, said she "absolutely loved making the movie".

Kelly Rowland's LP delayed to avoid Beyonce clash comments (0)
20 May 2006 by BorgQueen
The release of Kelly Rowland's second solo album has been delayed until next year, so it doesn't clash with Destiny's Child bandmate Beyonce Knowles' next LP. Despite the disc being finished and supposedly ready for release, her manager Mathew Knowles - Beyonce's father - is holding it back until early 2007. Beyonce's new album is due for release later this year. Knowles Snr says, "We want to make sure our marketing strategy is a multi-tiered approach that capitalises on the synergies afforded by her other projects. "If she finds a better song or songs to add, we'll use them. But that's not the reason for changing the date. Everyone is pleased with the record Kelly made."

Sean Garrett Penning Songs For Beyonce comments (5)
10 May 2006 by BorgQueen
Sean Garrett, who Jay-Z nicknamed The Pen of the industry, is at it again. The four-time Grammy Award-nominated songwriter, who penned Usher’s, “Yeah” and Ciara’s, “Goodies,” has been busy helping to complete Beyonce’s new album. “We knocked out about 10 songs in about eight days on her (Beyonce’s) new album,” Garrett revealed to Vibe.com. “Beyonce Knowles is hands-down one of the best, if not the best in the industry. As you will hear we just took her sh** to a whole other level.” Garrett is especially excited about Beyonce’s second single, which he wrote and co-produced with Swizz Beatz and B herself. Although Garrett felt like it was too early to reveal the name of that second single, he’s not bashful in saying it’s going to be a huge record. “The second single is absolutely fu***** amazing. I can guarantee you it’s going to be bigger than anything I have ever done,” Garrett said confidently. “The girls are going to love it and the dudes are going to go crazy. It’s a CLUB BANGER. “The subject is soo stupid that the girls are going to lose their minds.”

Beyonce Knowles hails legends comments (1)
06 May 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyonce Knowles claims Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross have been the biggest influences on her career. The 'Bootylicious' singer, who plays a Diana Ross-style character in her upcoming movie 'Dreamgirls', hailed the singing legends for their natural talent. She is quoted in Britain's Hello magazine as saying: "I chose those people because they were successful singers and they didn't have to act financially or for any other reason. They did it because they wanted to." The former Destiny's Child star - who played racy Foxxy Cleopatra in hit comedy 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me'- also confessed she would love to have a non-singing film part one day. She said: "I think it's great when you're able to act and sing. But I do eventually want to do a movie where I'm not a singer."

Cam'ron Reportedly Text-Messaging Beyonce Like Crazy comments (0)
28 Apr 2006 by BorgQueen
Apparently Cam’ron wants to know if Beyonce will Touch It or Not. “Cam has been text-messaging Beyonce like crazy,” a tipster told the New York Daily News. “He’s been asking her out, and dissing Jay-Z. He’s been telling her she should be with a real man like him.” This alleged revelation comes months after Cam released, “You Got It,” a track aimed at Shawn Carter, the President of Def Jam Records. On the track, the Dipset general boasts about having Beyonce singing about slinging crack on one of his older albums. "If I say Beyonce's on my album singing about slinging crack, she's on my album singing about slinging crack,” a brash Cam said in a late January press conference. Despite Cam’s actions and comments, Jay-Z has maintained that the Harlem native is merely bringing attention to himself and the Dipset camp to stir up a buzz for their impending projects.

Dreamgirls peek is nightmare for Cannes purists comments (0)
28 Apr 2006 by BorgQueen
Cannes organisers are to screen 20 minutes of Dreamgirls, starring Beyonce Knowles, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx, next month - a move likely to further incense purists who fear the festival is abandoning its artistic roots and kowtowing to Hollywood's commercial mandate.
Cannes' prestigious annual line-up attracts the biggest critics in the world and enjoys blanket media coverage, providing Hollywood executives with a gilt-edged promotional opportunity for upcoming releases.
The excerpt from Bill Condon's Broadway adaptation, which stars Knowles as part of a 1960s soul trio and is supposedly loosely based on the story of the Supremes, will be the third of its kind to play on the Croisette next month. Dreamgirls wrapped two weeks ago and is set to open in US cinemas on December 21.

However, she is expected to get back to music in the coming months, with Sean Garrett, who is working on the new material, reporting that Beyonce is putting in 12-hour days on the LP and working harder than ever. Christina Milian Slams ‘Beyonce Image’ comments (8)
14 Apr 2006 by BorgQueen
American pop star Christina Milian has hit out at critics who claim her image is copied from fellow singer Beyonce. The sexy 24-year-old insists she has never been inspired by the Destiny's Child star, and claims the comparison is only made because they share similar physical features. Speaking to AllHipHop.com she rants, "Do people think that every light skin black girl that has blonde hair has to say that she wants to be like her? "That's not the case. And that's wack, because people don't realise they're stereotyping us. "It's unfortunate because I feel like it's ongoing for me. My career has been a thirteen year process. I didn't even know about her until five years ago. "My career, and every move that I make, I try my hardest to set myself apart from everyone else. And I don't even think it's a matter of trying; I am a different person. "When I make music, I'm not listening to (Beyonce's) music and saying I want to make a song like that or I want to dress like her. "Everyone dresses their own way, has their own style. It's sad that people have to make comparisons based on looks. "I can be very real with you; in no way, shape, or form have I ever tried to be like anybody else.

Beyonce offers 'junkie' Whitney Houston support comments (1)
07 Apr 2006 by BorgQueen
The star upset by recent press reports. Beyonce Knowles is amongst the stars offering their support to Whitney Houston after the singer was reported as living in squalor as a heavy drug user. The former Destiny's Child star was said to be shocked by recent photos picturing Houston looking in a bad state, with a journalist for the Sun newspaper reporting how the former global superstar has squandered much of her fortune on crack cocaine. "Beyonce will do what it takes to sort Whitney out, an unnamed source tells the Daily Star newspaper this week. "She needs her friends around her and Beyonce would never give up on anybody." Whitney Houston was one of the biggest stars of the 1990's, with over 100m in album sales, but her drug use and public spats with husband Bobby Brown have been the topics grabbing headlines in recent years.
Mary J. Blige has also voiced her support to Houston, saying she is praying for the R&B singer, "I'm saddened by the whole thing. Whitney is technically the best vocalist in the business. Whitney will come through. I have every faith that she will make a breakthrough. I'm just praying for her now."

Beyonce's movie stalled by hair-raising experience comments (0)
31 Mar 2006 by BorgQueen
Beyoncé Knowles has delayed shooting on her new film by getting things stuck in her hair. The beautiful star - who is currently filming Dreamgirls, a movie set in the 60s about a trio of female Motown singers - keeps getting her costume stuck in her wigs. An insider told website The Scoop: "During a dance routine, a fake nail kept getting caught in it. "The capes were meant to look like they were elevating, but they were actually being raised by fishing wire, but it all got caught up in her wig."
Meanwhile, Beyoncé is being paid a whopping £2,6-million by cosmetic company L'Oreal to keep her real hair in great condition. The contract states she has to 'maintain her current excellent physical condition and beauty, her skin colour, shade and tone, hairstyle, hair colour and weight.' The Bootylicious singer has to inform the company with two weeks notice before making any radical changes to her appearance.

Not even pouring rain could dampen the mood of Destiny’s Child when the recently disbanded R&B group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. Lead singer Beyonce Knowles, wearing a grey off-the-shoulder suit with heels, joined her former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams at the installation of the walk’s 2,305th star. “We started when we were nine years old, and here we are getting a Hollywood star,” Knowles said. “Dreams come true. So thank you all so much for supporting us.” The Grammy Award-winning trio disbanded last year to pursue solo careers. Knowles and Rowland, both from Houston, were founding members of the group, which scored instant success with its debut album, Destiny’s Child. “I want to thank ya’ll for coming out here in this rain. We are humbled to be here,” Rowland said to the umbrella-covered crowd in front of the Kodak Theatre.

Beyonce’s wigs causing havoc on film set comments (1)
29 Mar 2006 by BorgQueen
Spies on the set of “Dreamgirls” tell MSNBC.com that “huge amounts of time and money” are going toward dramatic hairpieces for Beyoncé’s character Deena Jones, the Diana Ross-like lead singer in a 1960s girl group looking for fame. “The shooting keeps getting delayed because something goes wrong with one of those darned wigs,” a source tells MSNBC.com’s The Scoop. “During a dance routine, Beyoncé was twirling and a fake nail kept getting caught in the wig and it all ripped apart. Another time, some cakes were supposed to look like they were elevating, but they were actually being raised by fishing wire, but it got all caught up in her wig. The movie supposedly has a budget of almost hundred million dollars, but you wouldn’t know it by the special-effects budget. I think a huge chunk of it went to those wigs.”

Destiny's Child and Sean "Diddy" Combs had huge paydays in 2005, which led to their appearances at No. 14 and 15 respectively on Rolling Stone magazine's "Richest Rock Stars Of 2006" list. The retired R&B trio of Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams earned $24.8 million last year, while the Bad Boy Entertainment founder netted $24.3 million in 2005, mostly from selling his Bad Boy Records label to the Warner Music Group and revenue from his Sean John clothing line.
Rapper 50 Cent placed 19th with estimated earnings of $10 million from his G-Unit clothing line, video game deal, Reebok deal, touring, royalties, and his movie “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.” His mentor, Eminem, ranked No. 21 with $17.8 million. Jay-Z followed at No. 22 with $17.5 million, with $3 million of the total coming from his estimated salary as president of Def Jam Records. The remainder came from the sale of Roc-A-Fella Records and proceeds from the Rocawear clothing line. Kanye West and Dr. Dre both earned $16.9 million to rank 25th.

Beyonce is currently filming Dream Girls, loosely based on the life of Diana Ross and the Supremes and has agreed to a most unusual way to promote the movie. There's going to be a hi-tech Beyonce doll dressed up in costumes from Dream Girls. Not only will it sing, talk and dance, but will also cry on demand. The Destiny's Child star was initially "freaked out" about the doll, but now likes the idea.Look out for that movie - and doll - this December.

Destiny's Childless? comments (0)

The birth of a child is generally considered to be a wonderful thing, and we'd be the last people to argue against that. However, there are certain parts of the act of childbirth that aren't what you might call pretty - something that Beyonce discovered when her sister Solange gave birth to her son Daniel.
The 'Yonce was in the delivery room helping her sister, and admits that the whole experience made her "turn purple". She told Now magazine: "I thought, 'I'm never going to have a baby as long as I live.'"
Don't worry, those of you eagerly awaiting the next generation of big-haired R&B stars - she might still change her mind. "When I saw him in the delivery room, I thought: 'He's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen'...it's given me very mixed feelings. I think I'd love to have a baby but then I have Daniel for a day and I'm happy to hand him back!"
Don't worry, Aunty Yonce - you could always call Britney for some childcare advice. Actually, on second thoughts...
