The Aura of a Pinup: Beyoncé's Winning Image comments (7)
18 May 2007 by BorgQueen
In choosing Beyoncé Knowles to represent his new fragrance, Emporio Armani Diamonds, designer Giorgio Armani embraced an entertainer who has capitalized on the art of being an all-American pinup. The majority of modern female pop stars who rely on sex appeal to build their careers -- as well as whatever talent might be at their disposal -- tend to focus on either a Lolita-esque licentiousness or an attitude of carefully modulated raunch. But Beyoncé has mostly followed a different path. She combines her formidable talent with a feline sex appeal that is reminiscent of old-fashioned pinups such as Raquel Welch, Ann-Margret and Farrah Fawcett, but updated for a contemporary audience.

Only the Best (Vodka) for Beyoncé comments (5)
17 May 2007 by BorgQueen
Is Jay-Z driving Beyonce to drink?… I’m only asking because the bodacious beauty was dying for some Hpnotiq vodka while giving a concert in Germany on Monday night. She requested that a member of her team find a way – any way – to snag her a bottle. Here poor rep was scrambling to find a way to score a bottle, but didn’t have any luck finding it in Hamburg where Beyonce was staying! … Hours later, after a few phone calls, the folks at Hpnotiq had a few bottles sent her way immediately… They even agreed to keep her stocked for the rest of the tour so nobody would have to go on a desperate-Vodka-quest again!… Beyonce’s next stop?… France! According to the Hpnotiq reps over there, Beyonce was so sweet and gracious that they went to so much trouble over her!

Beyonce never thought she was hot... comments (2)
17 May 2007 by BorgQueen
Eight million men voted her the most desirable woman of 2007, but Beyonce has revealed she's far from confident about her looks. "I was a bit of a tomboy when I was a kid and never really thought of myself as pretty," she added. That could explain why the ex-Destiny's Child star has only had two proper boyfriends. "I don't like to discuss that because I get embarrassed," she admitted. "But I did have a boyfriend from the ages of 13 to 19. I prefer not to name him and we're still friends. And now I have Jay-Z. In between, I didn't have a boyfriend for more than a year so you can work that out for yourself," she told Cosmopolitan magazine.

Beyoncé feels sexiest with bare feet and messy hair.T he 'Dreamgirls' star - who has dated rapper Jay Z for five years - says women who are not overtly sexual are the most attractive. Beyoncé told Cosmopolitan magazine, "I like to walk around my house with bare feet and messy hair, but that can be sexy, too. "I have an old-fashioned view on sexuality, in that I don't think it should be in your face. "It's the opposite of who I am on stage." The singer-and-actress also revealed she took part in beauty pageants as a child, but hated them and dressed like a tomboy. She said, "We all have our insecurities and, to this day, I see plenty of things wrong with myself. As a young girl I did beauty pageants, but I hated them. I always wore baggy clothes and never won. I was a bit of a tomboy when I was a kid and never really thought of myself as pretty."

Beyonce's Weight Debate comments (0)
15 May 2007 by BorgQueen
Beyonce has often sung about being bootylicious and is rather partial to shaking her Jelly. And it seems she stands by her lyrics. B reckons curves are better than size zero any day. And that despite the fact she shed a whopping 20lbs for her role in Dreamgirls by a diet of cayenne pepper and maple syrup - yuck. Anyhoo, she told the Daily Mirror: "You should be thinking about building up your character and having fun, not how much you weigh. "My song Bootylicious is a celebration of curves and a woman's natural body."

Beyonce Tempted By Pork Skins On Dreamgirls Set comments (0)

Beyonce found it difficult to maintain her figure while filming Dreamgirls - she developed a fondness for pork skins. The star embarked on a dramatic weight-loss programme to slim down for her role as Deena Jones in the Oscar-winning movie, but admits it was hard to keep the weight off when such tasty treats were on offer during filming. She says, "It is so tempting on film sets. They have these tables with every kind of food. I'd eat pork skins because that's the closest thing to chips."

Beyonce Suit Gets Bumped comments (0)
08 May 2007 by BorgQueen
A preliminary injunction hearing in Beyoncé's copyright-infringement suit did not take place Friday as scheduled and has been adjourned until May 14. Attorneys for the singer, who is being sued by the Royalty Network — the copyright owner of the Des'ree song "I'm Kissing You," which Beyoncé reinterpreted with "Still in Love (Kissing You)," featured on her B'Day - Deluxe Edition — have until Monday to file a response to the suit. Beyoncé's camp and the Royalty Network came to an earlier agreement filed last month, which states that Columbia and Sony would "engage in no further distribution" of the album or video anthology until the injunction hearing takes place.

Beastie Boys vs Beyonce comments (0)

Beastie Boys wanted to call their new album "Thick Like Beyonce's Leg" but had a last-minute change of heart, they have revealed. As the rap icons confirm the tracklisting for "The Mix-Up", Mike D admitted they were tempted to give it a different name. "I think it's gonna be called 'The Mix-Up'. It's a little too sensible almost huh?" D told XFM. "I was a big fan of the title 'Thick Like Beyonce's Leg' but that didn't make the final cut for some reason. "Beyonce's very talented and beautiful and she's probably stronger than we are. We didn't want to have any problems with her", he explained.

Mathew Knowles: No Feud Between Beyonce And Ne-yo comments (0)
02 May 2007 by BorgQueen
Beyonce's manager father Mathew has dismissed claims he is angry with R+B star Ne-yo for claiming he wrote the pop sensation's number one hit, Irreplaceable. Ne-Yo recently hit out at Beyonce, claiming she had taken full credit for the song - which he insists they co-wrote. He told MTV, "Apparently Beyonce was at a show somewhere and right before the song came on, she said: 'I wrote this for my girls...' The song is a co-write. I wrote all the lyrics. Beyonce helped me with the melodies and the harmonies and the vocal arrangement, and that makes it a co-write." But Mathew Knowles insists there is no feud, telling the New York Daily News, "Today is the first day I learned I'm unhappy with Ne-Yo. I never knew he said that. He does deserve to share in the credit."

Team Bey says recent media reports are inaccurate comments (2)
30 Apr 2007 by BorgQueen
Beyonce’s management has released a statement stressing the inaccuracy of recent media reports suggesting that her new “B’Day Deluxe Edition” album and video companion has been yanked from store shelves. To clarify the move further, a rep for her management company Music World Entertainment released the following statement: Unfortunately, there were some misunderstandings regarding whether Des’ree’s song ‘Kissing You’ was cleared for release in the United States. Hank Fasthoff, one of Beyonce's attorneys, said: “First and foremost we’d like to point out that as an artist, Beyonce is not in any way involved in the process of obtaining clearances to re-record and release songs. Obtaining clearances is customarily handled by management, the attorneys and/or the label."

New shipments of a Beyonce album released earlier this month will not include a remake of the song "I'm Kissing You" until a dispute about legal clearances are resolved, the pop star's management company said Friday. The company's decision came after a copyright infringement lawsuit was filed against the singer and her record label on behalf of the song's co-writers, Des'ree Weeks and Timothy Atack. "Unfortunately, there were some misunderstandings regarding whether Des'ree's song '(I'm) Kissing You' was cleared for release in the United States," said Music World Entertainment, which represents Beyonce.

Beyonce is so impressed with the digital imagery on the video for her duet with Shakira, sometimes even she can't tell the two of them apart. The sexy Deja Vu singer teams up with Shakira for her latest hit Beautiful Liar, and admits they did such a good job synchronising their dance moves in the video that she has trouble distinguishing between the pair herself. She says, "For the video, they put us in a room together for about two hours and we just came up with the choreography and played off the fact we look similar. "It was really cool because I don't even know who is who sometimes - even I get confused!"

Beyonce's new destiny comments (8)
25 Apr 2007 by BorgQueen
When media were informed Beyonce Knowles would allow television crews and print media to photograph her on stage just for one solitary minute at her first Melbourne show, alarm bells rang. Most bands open their show to media for the first three songs; Beyonce wanted photographers in and out of Rod Laver Arena before she even started her first. The last Australian tour by the now dormant Destiny's Child had a cheap stage set that wouldn't have looked out of place at a rock eisteddfod. But last night Melbourne finally got a Beyonce show with a budget. More importantly Beyonce is fast transcending being a mere R&B performer and reaching the level of a female Prince.

Beyonce's B'Day Over? comments (2)
25 Apr 2007 by BorgQueen
Three weeks after celebrating her second B'Day, Beyoncé is pulling the plug — at least for now — on the re-release of her recent solo LP. Thanks to a pending lawsuit over her cover of Des'ree's "I'm Kissing You" on her B'Day - Deluxe Edition album and video anthology, the singer and her label have agreed to stop distributing the albums and DVDs that include the song. When Beyoncé sat down earlier this year with MTV News to discuss the new material featured on B'Day - Deluxe Edition, she mentioned that her version of the song — which is called "Still in Love (Kissing You)" on the reissue — wasn't originally intended for release and that she had just recorded it because she "always loved it."

Beyonce gave a passionate and fiery performance at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre last night – some would say she was smoking. Working every inch of her curvaceous physique through frantic booty popping and sexy R&B moves, Beyonce danced up a storm on stage, opening the show with her massive hit Crazy In Love. Looking every bit the dream girl in a sparkling silver floorlength gown Beyonce paused midsong to tear the skirt from her waist and reveal a sassy mini. It helped her stand out among the 20 women on stage – six dancers, three backup vocalists and an all-girl band. On tour in Australia to promote the release of her second solo album B'Day which has already sold more than five million copies worldwide, Beyonce mixed up the show with hits from her 2003 debut solo album Dangerously In Love including Baby Boy and Love To Love You. B'Day tracks Freakum Dress and Green Light moved fans to screams of endearment.

If Beyonce fan Geoff Burke was Crazy in Love with the Hollywood diva before, he's gone absolutely bonkers now. The young bloke happened to be in the right place at the right time when the sexy singer's plane to Brisbane was put on hold at Sydney's domestic airport yesterday. Beyonce asked people not to take photos as she hit the shops and signed autographs, but made an exception for Burke. "When I'm about to get on the plane, I'll wink at you," she said. She's a multi-platinum, multi-Grammy Award-winning pop diva accustomed to mob hysteria wherever she goes. Yet when Beyonce Knowles breezed into Sydney Airport early yesterday for the first date of her Australian tour at Acer Arena, she was met by just three fans. Sisters Helen and Tina Szilagy and friend John Bonanno had been in and out of Sydney Airport since Friday morning, hoping to catch a glimpse of the superstar ahead of last night's Sydney concert. And their persistence paid off shortly before 7am when the 25-year-old singer emerged from a VIP entrance and headed straight towards them.

Looking every inch the diva she is, Beyonce opened her first Australian show last night wearing a stunning, glittery silver floor-length gown and belted out one of her biggest hits, Crazy In Love. In a showstopping move, she waited until halfway through the song before she ripped the long skirt off the costume and turned it into a sexy minidress, showing her impressive and world-famous curves, much to the delight of the crowd at Acer Arena. Her all-female band included three voluptuous backup singers and there were three separate drum kits. She worked the stage, dancing and waving her hands and playing up to the audience.

The bootylicious juggernaut of Beyonce and Shakira is pulling clear of the Arctic Monkeys in the race for the No1 single. I told you yesterday that the US/Colombian pair were leading the Sheffield rockers by just nine copies in the battle to be on top on Sunday — but that gap has widened to 1,500. The divas have shifted around 15,200 copies of Beautiful Liar compared to the Monkeys’ 13,700 sales of Brianstorm

Beyoncé sued for copyright infringement comments (0)

Beyoncé told MTV News that she hadn't planned to put her cover of Des'ree's "I'm Kissing You" — which she retitled "Still in Love (Kissing You)" — on her re-released B'Day - Deluxe Edition album and video anthology, but other people insisted, telling her she'd be "crazy" not to. She might have benefited from a second opinion, since now she's being sued for copyright infringement over the track. The Royalty Network — which administers the publishing on behalf of Westbury Music, owner of the copyright for Des'ree's song — is asking for $150,000 in damages and seeks an injunction to recall the album from stores, according to a suit filed Monday in Manhattan Federal Court. A hearing to show cause has been scheduled for Monday.

Beyonce and Arctic Monkeys are locked in a battle for this Sunday’s UK Singles Chart number one spot. Beyonce’s duet with snake-hips Shakira, ’Beautiful Liar’, and the Monkeys’ comeback single ’Brianstorm’ were both released (in physical form) on Monday, and midweek sales figures suggest there’s barely a whisker between them. One report said there’s just nine copies between them. So if you go and buy ten copies of either single now, you might change their lives forever. Wow.

Beyonce Knowles has two more albums left with Sony and is getting ready to renegotiate with the label. But boyfriend Jay-Z has been trying to get her to hip-hop music label Def Jam for a while, reports pagesix.com. 'He would love to oversee her career - he kind of does anyway,' said an insider. The source added: 'Sony has had a bad year - all the hit acts, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and the 'American Idol' kids, are all on BMG. They can't afford to lose Beyoncé. They'll probably mortgage the farm to keep her. Which means a lot more money for Beyoncé and Jay-Z if they get married.'
